OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL 20 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.5 MG

DESCRIPTION

Olmilip-H Tablet is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide and Olmesartan. It is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels and also increasing the water and sodium excretion from the body. Thus it promotes the smooth flow of blood and also allows your heart to pump blood more efficiently.

INDICATION

• Hypertension : Olmilip-H Tablet ( Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 Mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 Mg ) Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition in which the force exerted by the circulating blood on the walls of the blood vessel is high. Olmilip-H Tablet is used to control high blood pressure.

MECHANISM OF ACTION 

Olmesartan : This is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that inhibits the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to constrict. By blocking the angiotensin II receptors, Olmesartan causes blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure and reduces the heart’s workload.

Hydrochlorothiazide : This is a thiazide diuretic that increases the excretion of sodium and water through the kidneys. By reducing the volume of fluid in the bloodstream, Hydrochlorothiazide helps lower blood pressure and decreases the heart’s workload.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Drug-drug interaction: Olmilip-H Tablet may interact with an antidepressant (lithium), heart rhythm controlling medicines (digoxin), blood thinner (aspirin), antidiabetic medicines (metformin, insulin), medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction (sildenafil), medicines used to lower cholesterol levels (simvastatin), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), and other anti-hypertensive medicines (atenolol, aliskiren, enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril, metoprolol), pain killers (ibuprofen), medicines for treating stomach ulcers (carbenoxolone).

Drug-food Interaction: Olmilip-H Tablet may interact with high potassium-containing food and drinks. So, if you are using any of the OTC items, please tell your doctor. Also, alcohol should not be consumed while taking Olmilip-H Tablet.

Drug-Disease Interaction: The efficacy of Olmilip-H Tablet is affected, and the disease condition may even worsen if taken in patients with a recent or history of heart attack, low blood pressure, low potassium level, low electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, etc.), anuria (non-passage of urine), angioedema (an allergic condition with swelling under the skin), lupus (an autoimmune disease), kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, diabetes.

PRECAUTIONS

When using Olmilip-H Tablet, monitor kidney function and electrolyte levels regularly, as the combination can affect renal performance and cause imbalances in sodium and potassium. Be cautious in patients with a history of kidney disease or those on other medications that impact electrolyte balance. Additionally, watch for signs of dehydration or hypotension, especially during the initial treatment phase or dose adjustments.
