DESCRIPTION

Cefjone-400 Tablet is a combination of (Cefixime 400 Mg) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory and urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Common side effects include gastrointestinal issues and allergic reactions. 

INDICATION

• Urinary Tract Infection : Infections in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra) are called urinary tract infections (UTIs). UTIs are caused by bacteria and, in some cases, by viruses or fungi. Cefjone-400 Tablet (Cefixime 400 Mg) is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.

• Gonorrhoea : Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. It is caused by unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person. Cefjone-400 Tablet (Cefixime 400 Mg) is used to treat Gonorrhoea.

• Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis : Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If the infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, it is called pharyngotonsillitis. Cefjone-400 Tablet (Cefixime 400 Mg) is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.

• Acute bronchitis : Acute bronchitis is a condition in which the bronchial tubes that carry air to and from the lungs become inflamed. It causes narrowing of the airways leading to symptoms such as coughing and wheezing. Cefjone-400 Tablet (Cefixime 400 Mg) is used to treat acute bronchitis caused by bacteria.

• Acute Otitis Media : Acute Otitis media (AOM) is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum). Cefjone-400 Tablet (Cefixime 400 Mg) is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

MECHANISM OF ACTION 

Cefixime 400 mg is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are enzymes involved in the final stages of bacterial cell wall synthesis. This inhibition disrupts the formation of the bacterial cell wall, weakening it and leading to cell lysis (destruction) and death of the bacteria. Cefixime is bactericidal, meaning it kills bacteria rather than merely inhibiting their growth. It is effective against a broad range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, making it useful for treating various infections, such as those in the respiratory, urinary, and gastrointestinal systems. Since it acts on the bacterial cell wall, which human cells do not have, it selectively targets bacteria without harming human cells.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Cefjone-400 Tablet (Cefixime 400 Mg) may interact with certain vaccines (BCG, cholera vaccine, typhoid vaccine), anticoagulant medications (warfarin), and anticonvulsant medications (carbamazepine).
